New Housing Investment-Now Offering Brand New Homes!
Platte River Communities purchased the Applewood Mobile Home Community in December 2021. This change in ownership not only represents an investment in Sterling, CO, due to belief that the market is strong here, but also a commitment to bring more quality affordable housing options to the region.
Platte River Communities is an up-and-coming manufactured housing operator that currently manages four other communities in Kansas. In previous projects, PRC channeled millions of dollars of investment into Manufactured Housing Communities in the form of various community improvements to include the repaving of streets, increased security measures, park amenities, and of course, brand new high quality and affordable homes.
Platte River Communities Director of Development, Greg De Rozario began working on this project in spring of 2021. “We’ve had our eye on the Applewood community and the city of Sterling for quite some time. We believe that Sterling and Logan County are among the many communities in the country that fall short in the availability of affordable, high quality, housing.”
That bullish take on the market is why Platte River Communities chose to make such a substantial investment to acquire the site, but also why they are committing to bringing in 50 brand new mobile home units for the site through 2023.
PRC offers multiple models for residents, whether that is a traditional rental situation, to ownership and lot lease, to lease to own and all-in-one financing options.
According to Trae Miller of LCEDC, “Adding new units to this property will help address the housing needs that are limiting the community’s ability to grow. The project that (PRC) is brining will add quality units at affordable rates to help with workforce attraction and retention for area employers. This is a great opportunity for the community and we’re fortunate that they chose to invest in Sterling.”
So far the PRC team has placed 24 of the 50 new mobile home units that are now available to rent or purchase.
