Energy Resource Center Chooses Sterling for New Location!
STERLING, CO (May 2, 2022) – Logan County Economic Development Corp is thrilled to announce the arrival of the Energy Resource Center (ERC) to Sterling, CO.
The Energy Resource Center is a non-profit organization with offices in Loveland, Denver, Colorado Springs, and Alamosa. They serve 26,134 square miles across 27 counties, and since 1979, have helped thousands of Colorado families keep their homes safe, warm and energy efficient.
The ERC began conversations about establishing a new location in Northeast CO in April of 2021. First connected with LCEDC Director Trae Miller through a mutual contact, the ERC began to explore location options to determine the right fit for the new office. After several months of working to determine the best community to set up the new facility, in December of 2021 ERC made the decision to location in Sterling.
As part of that decision, Howard Brooks, CEO of ERC, shared this comment, “(Trae’s) enthusiasm and hard work were among the deciding factors in our choice of Sterling. We are impressed with (his) advocacy and willingness to help us create these local jobs for your community. We are excited for the potential for young people in your area to have an entire career in energy efficiency ahead of them. These are the jobs of today and of the future.”
After deciding on Sterling, ERC faced the next big challenge of finding a suitable facility to base their operations from. Following site visits arranged through the LCEDC in February, an ideal location was identified and secured for long-term lease. ERC took possession of the new office space at 601 S. 10th Avenue on May 1st.
The next step in ERC getting the office open is hiring service technicians. According to the ERC website, https://www.erc-co.org, “ERC’s latest location in Sterling, CO will be open for business July 1st, 2022! This new facility will cover weatherization services in the rural counties of northeast Colorado. We are currently hiring new staff members and seeking client applications. For more information, please call 970-463-7020.”
According to LCEDC Director, Trae Miller, “The (ERC) will be a great resource for the entire Northeast Region. We are thrilled they decided to pick Sterling for the regional base. The employment opportunities and services offered will be a great benefit to the area.”
The ERC is actively recruiting for an Office Client Intake Specialist, HVAC Technicians, and Weatherization Technicians.
